Allie + Ben | Engagement Session | Downtown Atlanta

downtown atlanta engagement session (11).jpg

We had the most fun exploring downtown Atlanta together with these two lovebirds! We go back a little ways with the bride-to-be here. We met her years ago when our firstborn was just entering high school and Allie was an intern with the youth group at the church we attended. We have always thought a lot of her! So when Allie reached out to us about shooting her wedding, we were delighted!

For this shoot, Allie and Ben wanted to capitalize on her current hometown, Atlanta. So, we met at a downtown parking garage then we explored together! We have always wanted to shoot at the Atlanta Beltline. The Graffiti walls and artwork have been calling our names for a while now, so we were crazy excited when Allie and Ben were on board with this! After getting all the goody out of the East Beltline area (which really is a super cool place), we headed over to Piedmont Park to find the best view of the downtown skyline (which was what they had requested in their photos). We had previously checked the Piedmont Park calendar but had no idea there was a HUGE event going on there that evening (a charity race of some sort). But Allie and Ben were such great sports and we all found our way through the crowds and made our way to the lake and quickly realized that this is quite the hot spot for local photographers and engaged couples. (LOL. Well, of course it is! Look at it!!!) There was one couple waiting for their photographer and since we were already there, they so sweetly allowed us a few shots before their photographer arrived. Then we quickly moved on and found our own sweet spots! Woohoo! This is one thing I love about working with Allen. He is so creative and can make the smallest little nooks look epic and look like we were there all alone! He is crazy talented (as if you couldnā€™t tell by these photos. hee-hee) and although I may snap a few photos at engagements, he mostly does all the shooting at these and I get to spend time interacting with the clients and carry gear, look for stray hairs in shots, etc. So I get the easy job. Hee-hee.

Back to this adorable couple! Allie and Ben have the sweetest relationship! We loved watching them interact with each other, tease each other, silly dance, and be a little crazy together! Marriage is super hard work so we always say that a sense of humor will serve you well in marriage! And these two have that nailed! After finding some beautiful views of the skyline (and Allen working his magic for them to get their favorite building in a shot with them silhouetted), we headed over to Jackson Street Bridge!! We had read about this bridge but never visited it. We had studied photos from the bridge and sort of knew what we wanted but really we never know exactly what we will be working with until we arrive. Thatā€™s kind of the beauty of Allenā€™s creative eye tho. He can show up and come up with a quick vision for what he wants to create for a client and then implements it! BOOM! Have I mentioned how amazing I think he is?! It really truly just blows my mind!

So after parking and heading up to the bridge, we once again realized that it was another busy area for photographers. We really only had a few feet to work with as a couple of other groups were already working the bridge. But of course, it all worked out beautifully and we were able to get some gorgeous shots of these two with the gorgeous Atlanta skyline in the background. ANDā€¦IT GETS BETTER!!! (Iā€™ll explain below at the end).

It was a great evening and when we walk away from a shoot with deeper friendships with our clients AND epic shotsā€¦it is definitely a win-win! We love these two and canā€™t wait for their wedding in April and are so excited for all God has planned for them!

When you pick out an engagement ring that sparkles so much that it lights up downtown Atlanta! Whoop whoop! Nice job, Ben!

April canā€™t get here soon enough! Cant wait to see these two say ā€œI-doā€!
