6 long years together...6 years of dating. 6 years of getting to know one another. 6 years of marriage prep. And finally all that waiting pays off. This lovely couple tied the knot and brought us so much joy, as we had the blessed opportunity to capture their love and adoration for each other on such a gorgeous spring day.
Devon's vintage lace wedding gown, and her elegant vintage headpiece were such a perfect match for her sweet spirit! Oh, and how can we not mention her something borrowed: a sparkling Amethyst from her mother...her something blue: her adorable lace up Steve Madden slippers...her something old: A 1920s wedding ring that belonged to her Grandmother! Eeek! An old soul...a girl after my own heart!
The elegant simplicity of her ceremony and reception decor had us in photographers heaven! And those bridesmaids dresses! Oh my goodness! They were so classy! Of course it helped that the bridesmaids themselves were each a class act. We love it when the wedding party is super supportive of the bride & groom and makes the bride's & groom's day even better because of their presence and service. It's really a beautiful thing to be witness to!
The first look with Devon and her Dad was such a tender and precious moment . Each time we get to capture this, it tugs on our hearts (okay...and maybe we shed a few tears as well), knowing one day we will have to give our girls away also. Oh...the thought of it! The relationship between a father and his only daughter...words can't express (but maybe the pictures can). Then the first look between Bride and Groom was breathtaking! Six years of waiting...totally paying off! It looked like her grin could explode off her face at any minute, as she saw the approval and admiration in his eyes. What a glorious sight to behold!
During the ceremony, the pastor shared what amazing souls they each are. One of our favorite parts was when he pointed out the way David has served the church and others for years and then emphasized that now his first ministry is his bride! Wow! That was so touching. So few have the luxury of recognizing this truth. Christ never meant for us to sacrifice relationship for ministry. Rather our ministries are our relationships. Maybe we'll save that for a marriage Mondays post. Hee-hee. The officiant also discussed how sometimes each of them will be "needy" and need each other to support the other. I couldn't help but steal a glance at my man at that moment, knowing how blessed we are to have recognized that early on in our marriage. Then the bride and groom shared communion. Always a delightful moment! What a sweet ceremony it was. When the pastor finally pronounced them man & wife, the passionate kiss was sealed with an adorable "dip"! What a perfect ending.
What a beautiful day it was at The Retreat at Bradley's Pond! We hope these two are always just as giddy over each other as they were on their wedding day!
Congrats Devon & David!
